User Access Levels

See ChronScribe™ Setup and Initialization for details about the User Access Levels, privileges, and limitations.


Upon startup of ChronScribe™, the access level defaults to User. To change or edit the access levels, a menu selection is provided:

 


Change

To change the Access Level:

  1. Select Change from, the Main Form Tools->User Levels menu list.
  2. The dialog below is shown to:
    1. Select the desired level (Admin, Developer, Engineer, Maintenance, or User).
    2. Enter the required password for the level
      1. User level does NOT require a password to enter.
    3. Select a time time limit (in minutes), OR "None"
      1. User level does NOT have a time limit.
      2. Selecting "None" will maintain the same level until changed again or until restart.
    4. Press "Accept" to change the level, OR "Cancel" to cancel the change dialog.


 


After a level change is accepted, the status indicator on the bottom of the Main Form will change to indicate the access level and time remaining (if a time limit was provided).

Info

Only the Admin access level is able to edit access level passwords at run time.

Remember the passwords AND protect the installation media. If the passwords are forgotten, ChronScribe™ may be re-installed to reset the passwords.


Editing the Access Level allows an Admin the ability to edit an access level password, including the Admin password, at run time.

To edit the Access Level:

  1. Select Edit from, the Main Form Tools->User Levels menu list.
  2. If NOT already in the Admin level, the dialog below is shown to:
    1. Enter the required password for the Admin
    2. Select a time time limit (in minutes), OR "None"
    3. Press "Accept" to proceed, or "Cancel" to exit.
  3. When the Admin level is entered, the password modify dialog appears to:
    1. Select the desired level to edit its password.
    2. Enter the selected level's current password.
    3. Enter the desired password for the selected level.
    4. Confirm the desired password for the selected level.
    5. Press "Accept" to proceed, or "Cancel" to exit.
